After learning about course books and various types of material, I feel confidence in the proper usage of course books. I agree that lessons should not be solely based on the course book, but I also think that it should be used as a guide or reference to keep the teacher going on the right track and right level for the students. For my future students, I plan to use a course book as a guide, maybe taking some material if it fits within my course. But overall, I want to plan my course and use my creative skills to make a fun environment for my students. In this unit, I learned that materials not only need t be created by the teacher, but also authentic materials are enjoyed by students and it helps them gain confidence in the language. Authentic materials would be more suitable for more advanced students, in my opinion. Overall, I learned a lot about the use of a course book within the classroom.
