This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covers the ways teachers can evaluate their students as well as test their knowledge. A variety of methods are explored, such as tutorials, evaluations by the students, and testing. Different tests include placement tests to understand a student's level prior to their start in a class, and a diagnostic test to evaluate the already placed students in the class before the entire course begins. Progress tests can be given so the teacher can see where the students are at in their education. Practice tests exist for the students who wish to practice an external exam that might be administered by a university or institution.
Overall, tests can be a guide for a teacher so they may see the strengths and weaknesses of their students in a tangible way. It is important that testing does not become the only way teachers evaluate their students, as some students may be better test takers than others, and a grade on a test does not always perfectly translate a student's knowledge.
