This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This section examined the importance of productive skills: speaking and writing. Speaking was pared down to the essentials by tackling the differences between accuracy and fluency, as well as, activities that could be integrated within a lesson. There was also an emphasis on the controlled and creative avenues of verbal communication. Unit 12 tackled issues that may arise when teaching writing: spelling, layout, and punctuation were a given--but, I didn't really think about penmanship. The more the world digitizes, the further necessary skills like penmanship falls to the wayside. In terms of creative writing, poetry, plays, and stories were mentioned, but I think another exercise that could also be explored would be journaling. So, students could get into the habit of expressing the inner workings of their thoughts and ideas.
