This unit looks at teaching of the two receptive skills, reading and listening, which are both equally important for students learning English. It covers the different purposes for which we read, or listen to, information, and explains the differences in how we read and listen. I found the information on these specialist skills interesting, as it made me think about the purpose behind obtaining information, and the processes in which we obtain it. Looking at these specialist skills has also helped me to think of different activities and exercises to encourage students to strengthen their skills, and how to motivate students by using a wide variety of topics.
