As a native English speaker it is easy to forget that a lot of the communication between people is not just what is said, but also how it is said. This may be one of the more difficult things to teach because people perceive things different ways. Even native speakers miscommunicate because a tone was read wrong or the wrong words were stressed which changed the meaning of a statement. Although the unit says that some teachers set whole class times going over the way to stress or the flow of a sentence whether it is rise/fall or fall/rise or even flat, I think it would be important to incorporate all ways in which the unit describes. Sometimes whole class periods will be needed, filling in the gaps after a lesson will also be beneficial, but also addressing the issues or teaching opportunities as they are presented will be the most effective way. teaching students this part of english can potentially take the most time because different languages have their own sense of this as well.
