This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 7 contains different methods and factors to keep in mind when selecting lesson material to students in terms of vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions. These are important parts of language that students have to be exposed to in order for them to understand the meaning of language, the construction and the ability to practice and produce it. For this they will have to learn the meaning, spelling, pronunciation, grammar and correct usage of vocabulary, grammar and language functions. To teach this there are several techniques to present the material by Engaging students in the language material, having them study it, and activating them into using it. This is the standard order of a straight line ESA lesson but can be varied with through a Patchwork or Boomerang ESA lesson model that allows you to put more or less focus on studying and/or activating the language with students. I learned and came up with different ways to introduce vocabulary, functional or grammatical language subjects with for example: narrating stories, role-plays, interviews and group discussions/writing assignments that will relate to topics that are appropriate, relevant and can be applied in the different interactions that the students will have with the language.
