Having studied this unit, I have got an impression that despite being equally important in the scope of learning a language, productive skills, i.e. speaking and writing, seem to be of greater importance, since this is where the language per se comes into play. I have also found out that a good teacher has to always keep a healthy balance between controlled (guided) activities, wherein he/she keeps a close eye on his/her student, and non-guided activities, which allow students to experiment with the language and become more confident in using the corresponding linguistic units, forms, or grammatical structures.
