This unit deals with some of the cultural issures we should be aware of when teaching in different regions of the world. Also, it considers ways of seeking, applying for and keeping employment. It shows ways of professional development, by consideration of examinations a person can take and some of the professional associations one can take. A webliography of many useful contacts are also presented.
There are some rules to keep in mind, wherever a teacher may work. Some of them are:
1. Find out as much as you can about the country or region before you go.
2. When in the country, at work, be conservative in your manner, speech and actions until such a time that you are confident that you will not cause offence.
3. Don't make comments about people from the organization who are not there.
