This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered the various methods and approaches to language learning, their pros and cons, and example activities. The Unit focused mostly on the \"ESA\" approach by Jeremy Harmer. The approach is based around: Engage, Study, and Activate. The first phase makes students think and communicate in English, the second focuses on the board-work or teaching of a particular concept, and the final phase applies what was learned via useful, realistic situation based activities (e.g. role playing).
I thoroughly enjoyed this unit as it introduced me to useful methods to teaching the English language. At this point I can apply the aforementioned methods, or mix and match aspects of them to create an engaging learning environment for students.
