The unit covers the usefulness of coursebooks and lesson materials in an English class. In general, coursebooks - when applied appropriately - are useful but still need to be reinforced and supplemented according to the students' needs.
Currently I don't use any coursebooks or follow any set materials for my lessons. I would like to incorporate them into my lessons but I find that it is very challenging to find a \"one-size-fits-all\" syllabus for all of my current students. Another challenge is simply the fact that most of my students are adults and have already studied grammar, and whilst reviewing them is useful, they are not in a context/circumstance that allows them to regularly use and speak English.
I'm realising that balancing the students' interests, the method that enables them to best absorb the materials with their progress in mind, and my own ability to produce lesson materials is a difficult task.
