Unit 15 covered the process of assessment and evaluation of students. It outlined the techniques for evaluation as well as methods that can be used depending on the outcome that is desired. For example, a progress test can be used at various stages of a course to determine students understanding and retention of information. Furthermore, this unit provided information on the various external examinations that ESL students may come across. By providing this information it allows teachers to have a better understanding of how and why students are learning English, and also allows for teachers to tailor materials for students if necessary.
