This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was helpful because we are getting into the psychology of the HOW people learn aspect of teaching (of the receptive skills - reading and listening), which I am particularly interested in. In conjunction with the ESA method, I am finally starting to see the big picture of how my teaching style will come to be when I refine it into a Lesson Plan. In this unit, we are reminded that we need to develop lessons based on both students' interests and their abilities. We are also given some examples of how things could go wrong. For example, we need to pay particular attention to sentence/word length and the difficulty of individual words for beginner students. I believe that I now have a firmer grasp on what my future classes will look like, thanks to a deeper understanding of the receptive skills.
