Using various materials to create lesson plans will help a teacher bring their classroom learning to life. Using a balance of authentic materials, such as anything a native speaker would hear or read, created materials designed by the teacher, and course books specifically designed for lamguage learning, will provide a varied, interesting, and motivational classroom setting. Using too much of one type of material can cause boredom, overwhelm, or disinterest in the learners. Pairing varied learning materials with the ESA (Engae, Study, Activate) learning system makes for good lesson planning for both teacher and students.
