In Unit 15: Evaluation and Testing, I was given the reasons to offer tests to students, and sample materials to be used. It is important to give students the following tests in class: Placement at the beginning to see their level, Progress to review and see what was retained in lessons, Diagnostic to see other areas of difficulty to be taught, and Practice Tests if external exams are to be taken. We may have students who want to take advanced external tests for English, and it is good to be prepared as teachers to help them do this. External tests for English are useful to enter Universities in English-speaking countries, to work, or to be involved in International Business, and of course there are different levels of testing. A classroom with enough testing will measure a student's progress, let them know how they are doing, and encourage their advancement in proficiency of English.
