Lesson planning is important for various reasons. It helps you schedule everything so as it can fit into the allotted time for class, helps a teacher track progress, and gives the teacher a basic outline to go off of but not to follow 100% exactly. The ESA strategy is a great way to base ones lesson plan off of. The engage phase helps to relieve students stress and gets them talking. The study phase is where the teacher gives the actual on the board type of teaching instruction along with work sheets for the students to hone their skills on the new lesson they received. Finally the activate phase is where the students use their new skills in a speaking activity.
