The productive skills of language learning are speaking and writing. Writing is often left behind in the dust and sometimes students do not properly develop this skill, it is the most neglected skill in the TEFL world. The difference between speaking and writing is that speaking allows for clarity of miscommunication on the spot and writing does not. For teachers to be successful in teaching productive skills the environment of the classroom must be communicative. These two skills rely heavily on accuracy and fluency. To encourage effective communicative environment teachers can vary classroom dynamics and encourage group/pair-work. All parties benefit from a creative environment.
