This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 7 discussed vocabulary, grammar, and functions when teaching new language. It made the comparison to a tree, in that vocabulary is the trunk of the tree, while grammar and functions are the branches and leaves. This was a good way to think of it, as it's very easy to get more focused on one than another, but it's good to know that all three parts are very important for teaching and learning a new language.
There are a lot of factors that will go into teaching vocabulary, grammar, and functions, and I believe it is most important for me to remember that practice with the concepts will be the most beneficial for my students. Pronunciation and how/when the words will be used will be very important, because they will greatly benefit the students.
