This unit reflected the different types of pronunciation and phonology as well as different techniques to teach these aspects of language. Most english learning students claimed that pronunciation was one of the most difficult areas to learn but it is also one of the most negated areas of teaching. This could be because it is very hard to put into words how someone should sound. Phonology is the study, science, analysis, and classification of the physical properties of sounds. This includes intonation which allows the speaker to convey rise/fall, fall/rise, and flat speech. The second part is stress which places emphasis on certain words to convey a meaning to the listener.
