The word of the day regarding materials is self-reliance. If one is not going to be in a structured environment with in-house materials, he must come up with them on his own. From syllabus to course structure and content, ITTT provides only websites and suggestions. This is a major shortcoming of this course, in my opinion. Though I appreciate the examples, more substance in this regard would, in my opinion, be expected by current and future students. I admit that I didn't do a comprehensive review of everything written in all of the areas of the web page, I am a bit surprised at this.
As for the Unit, authentic and created materials are the two general types of materials. With created, there can be course books, which are usually organized and ready to use whatever is best for one's students, and those really custom ones that are more work but can be specific to the students' needs.
