Teaching receptive skills should be done with careful consideration of the students, their levels of understanding and their interest of topics presented to them. The degree to which they want to participate in different activities and projects may stem from text/dialogue they read and how clearly they comprehend it. It may determine how involved they want or chose to be. A teacher's anticipation of a topic/theme's difficulties or idiosyncrasies may help the teacher to layout and present activities and projects that help the students to understand and achieve the objectives the teacher is trying to reach. Using a variety of techniques will also spur the students to speak/read more and reach for higher goals, increase vocabulary and reinforce and expand on their knowledge base of the language.
