The focus of Unit 7 is vocabulary, grammar, and functions of language. It is important that all students be exposed to new language, understand its meaning, and how the language is constructed. It must also be introduced in a balanced and manageable way, such as, using the ESA lesson plan model and activities. When choosing vocabulary to teach, it is important to keep in mind that it should be appropriate to the student and task. Teaching grammatical structure should include: meaning, use, forms and patterns, as well as, spoken and written forms. Students must also learn the functions of language such as: inviting, refusing, agreeing, disagreeing, and suggesting, to name a few.
