This unit gave helpful tips and advice for dealing with everyday troubles in the classroom. The tips about the first day of class seem obvious but are often overlooked. Establishing rapport with the students on day one sets the tone for how the rest of the classes will be. By warming up to the students and by warming them up with activities the students will have more energy and be more confident in learning English.
I particularly liked how this unit explained how to deal with students who are talking using their native tongue. I have always wondered about what to do in that situation. This unit says that a teacher should not respond to a student asking a question in their native tongue as it will cause the student to rely less on their knowledge of English. I've seen this in action before. It's not as easy as the unit says. It takes experience to know how to handle those situations.
