This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit deals with the common problems faced by the teacher in a classroom and how those problems should be dealt with. First of all, the classes can be categorized in two types: the new group and an existing group. In the existing group the students already know each other, they have a certain comfort zone and are also familiar with EFL teaching. On the other hand a new group has students who do not know one another and are completely unaware what EFL entails. Therefore to make the new students comfortable, the teacher needs to establish a rapport. The first lesson of the new group should not be based on grammar activities or course books. The teacher should start with warm up activities like hangman, pictionary and tongue twisters. The teacher should also deal sensibly and shoot the troubles of the reluctant students and those who have difficulty in listening or understanding the text.
