I believe in the Unit's main tenants of having a road map, or underlying structure by use of a Course book, then supplementing with Authentic and Creative material. As with my answer to Task 4, I structured an ESA lesson to incorporate all 3 with: (1) Authentic and real world discussion/material in the ENGAGE phase, (2) Course Book relative material for the STUDY phase, and (3) Creative material introduced at the ACTIVATE phase. The phases coincide with coming in from the real world to begin class, focus and reinforcement, and playful ending before returning to the real world & the private lives of the students outside the classroom.
