This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit provided guidance on useful classroom tools that can be used to aid instruction and elicit engagement from students. A distinction is made between authentic materials - such as newspapers and menus - and created material. Created material is customizable, while authentic material provides real use of the language and may build student's confidence. Examples of created materials were provided that will be useful when augmenting authentic material in the classroom. An important point made in this lesson is that the instructor should not be over-reliant on created material and should not let authentic material such as textbooks, dictate lessons.
