This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 17 presented the new topic called ?Equipment and Teaching Aids and discussed about the following resources found in the classrooms and study centers: white/black board, IWB, OHP, visual aids, worksheets and work cards, cassette recorder, CD player, videos and DVDs, video camera, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopier, computers and online resources.
The first resource explored in this Unit was the board and the basic principles for board-work. The second resource explored was in the interactive whiteboards (IWB) and things to consider while using this type of resource.
The following resource that this Unit talked about was worksheets and cards and their particular use followed by the cassette recorder main usage as well.
In this Unit, I have also learnt about the CD player as one of the primary audio source in the classroom and about the advantages and disadvantages of using an OHP.
It was also very interesting to learn about the visual aids and their main purpose as this will enable me to use this type of resource in a more effective way and appropriately.
Finally, unit 17 also talked about dictionaries, course books, resource books, videos and DVDs, video camera, photocopier, computers and online resources, providing the latter an extensive list of websites that a TEFL teacher can use as resources.
