This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned the different teaching aids that can be used to make lessons more interesting effective and less dependent on the textbook.
E.g. White/ black board
Overhead projector
Visual aids
CD player
Worksheets and work cards just to name a few.
Board can be use for many things; writing, drawing, sticking things on,projecting overhead etc,
Boards draw and hold the attention of the students very effective.
I also learned the basic principles for board-work e.g.
Start with a clean board
Use correct writing tool for the board.
Write legibly and neatly
Keep the board clear and easy to read
Try to section off the boarr , to give areas for vocabulary, grammar and notes.
Involve the students in the writing process.
Clean the board at the end of the lesson.
I have seen that. Overhead projector has more advantages e.g. Focuses students attention
Can be kept in a file and refuse time and time again.
Visual aid can be used in the classroom, but the most common are real object, pictures and photos.
They are often used to illustrate meaning more quickly and efficiently than through verbal explanation thus reducing teacher taking time.
