This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit provides valid pros and cons on the use of ready-made coursework. In my experience, I have rarely had to provide my own materials for the actual lesson. I usually make creative materials such as art/writing projects, word searches, gap-fill exercises etc to occasionally supplement the study or activate phase of a standard lesson. I agree that using coursework can eventually become boring for students who become used to the same format each time, and that creative materials and the introduction of appropriate authentic materials can enhance a lesson. When students no longer feel motivated to answer questions or provide helpful dialogue, it's time to change the way the lesson is taught or provide/substitute/replace a section of the coursebook with more relevant material.
