Unit Ten; Evaluation and Testing
In unit ten we learn about the different ways of evaluating students' levels and progress and also some of the common external exams that students need to be prepared for.
Primarily we learn about the different types of tests and their purposes. There are placement tests, diagnostic tests, progress tests, practice tests and also the general external examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS,TOEIC, and then the Cambridge Assessment category. This includes KET, PET, FCE,CAE and CPE.Finally there are the skills for life and business English tests.
What I felt that I learnt from this unit was the critical importance of testing before, during and at the end of a students progression through their course; where should they be placed?, how are they progressing?, how should they be prepared for external examinations?, etc.
