This unit focused on course books and learning materials. There are two types of learning materials mentioned: authentic and created. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages that should be taken into consideration when deciding when and which ones to use. The unit goes on to discuss course books, which are often not selected by the teacher. There are advantages and disadvantages to using course books, too. It is best to not use the book for the whole lesson. You can omit, replace, supplement, and adapt the materials presented in the course book. If you are able to select your own course book, there is a list of important things to keep in mind when analyzing and selecting a course book (price, availability, design, etc.).
