This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In unit 15, I studied Evaluation and Testing.
There are different ways to assess a student's language level:
Tutorials (can be done in groups or individually), Evaluation by the SS (through a questionnaire or guided discussion) and Tests (placement, progress, diagnostic, practice)
Placement test: it is given before starting an EFL course. It places new Students into the correct class according to their language level.
Progress test: they should be used periodically. It let teachers and students know what language items need more work. These tests help students review and revise what they have learnt so far.
Diagnostic test: They are similar in content to placement tests. They are given at the start of a course to check what students already know.
Practice test: they should follow the format and structure of the external examination. (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge exams)
