There are many ways to teach english grammar and vocabulary. Planning out an interesting and engaging lesson is key to students understanding new material in class. Four things that students need to do while learning a new language are: be exposed to the new language, understand it's meaning, understand grammar and able to put it into practice. When teaching new vocabulary the teacher must consider how easy or difficult the new vocabulary will be for the students. Using visuals such as, pictures, realia and holding discussions about a specific topic is a great way to start a vocabulary lesson. The same can be used to begin a grammar lesson as well. Followed by word scrambles and word searches. In all ESA lessons the activate stage is important for students to put what they have learned in practice either in pairs or in a classroom game.
