This unit was very helpful for learning about methods for teaching writing and speaking to students. The first of these is to understand the difference between accuracy (a focus on language correctness) and fluency (the ability to produce thoughts and be creative in said language). It also taught how critical games can be in engaging the students, getting them to speak in class and write when they would otherwise feel averse. This also ties into making sure that students are comfortable and encouraged in class so that they can embrace the material without fear of being ostracized or treated as if they were stupid.
