This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
IN this lesson, I learned about some of the traditional forms (methodologies) of ESL. For example, there is grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, and task-based learning. Each has its strengths and weaknesses and what is chosen depends upon the student, their levels, and the objectives of the class. Elicitation was mentioned as an approach that is worth studying. The Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) method was the mainstay of the unit. It can be \"straight arrow\" or be modified as a \"boomerang\" or \"patchwork\" sequence in situations that warrant a different approach. There were a lot of useful ideas for implementing the ESA method. For example, the \"I'm going on a holiday and ...\" game can be useful to engage students.
