It's difficult to think of teaching students to learn a new language, but it was important to be reminded of all the difficulties they might face. I typically think of the struggles I would have, but to effectively teach, I need to think of things THEY would struggle with to help me be a better teacher and best prepare myself. Spelling is extremely difficult, because we have so many words that sound the same but are spelled differently. If students are learning the letters and have no background in English, this can be extremely difficult. It's important to think about accuracy and fluency in speaking and writing to ensure students are learning to the best of their ability.
