This chapter focuses on various aspects of classroom management, including the teacher's physical presence, how to group students, appropriate classroom arrangements, establishing rapport, how to maintain discipline as well as when to deliver individual attention.
As a teacher, I think the most important aspects of classroom management include maintaing discipline and establishing an appropriate, respectful relationship with the students. It is critical that the teacher can identify misbehaviors and some of the possible factors involved. When teaching, it is important to follow through on consequences and to be well prepared. The students will loose respect for their teacher if they are consistantly late without graded homework. It is also important to be fair so that the students feel they are in a safe and structured learning environment. Developing rapport with the students also allows you to gain their trust so that they know you are committed to seeing them succeed.
