This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 explained how to teach the productive skills of speaking and writing. The unit explained the differences between focusing on accuracy and fluency activities, providing examples for both, and stressed the importance of using both kinds of activities in different settings. This unit also talked about the importance of encouraging student interaction and provided some useful techniques to involve students who may be a bit more apprehensive or reluctant to speak. My biggest takeaway from this unit was again, the example lessons for both speaking and writing, as being able to see an example and figure out ways to involve different materials from the unit is a big help. I also enjoyed reading about how simple games can be adapted to teaching English to provide a creative and exciting activity for the classroom.
