This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
As I read Unit 2, I was reminded of the importance of using a variety of strategies to accomplish lesson goals. In my teaching career, I have used the \"Patchwork\" technique successfully many times. I have found that a variety of activities building one upon another is a fun and efficient way to learn another language.
The \"Straight Arrow\" technique is something I have employed in the past, but as our lesson states, it is not always the best technique for more complex facets of the language. In teaching Latin, I taught the subjunctive mood using the \"Patchwork\" or \"Boomerang\" lessons because of the complexity of the subjunctive mood.
The types of lessons I have probably used most in my career are the \"Boomerang\" lessons. Providing an Activate 1 and 2 has given me the flexibility to build on the learning that took place in Activate 1 by continuing to a more in depth activity (Activate 2) using what was acquired in the Study level lesson.
