In this unit I learned that lesson plans are important for teachers because they help a teacher to establish a focus for the subject that is to be taught, and it serves as a working document to keep the lesson on track. The teacher can freely refer back to the lesson plan, and it serves as a document of what has been taught, in addition to being used to assist another teacher that may be asked to cover the lesson. The lesson helps to create goals for both the students and the teacher, keep the lesson on track, and to have a plan in place for the phases and types of activities that the teacher will use in that lesson. This unit also helped to reinforce the Engage, Study and Activate teaching methods and examples of each.
