As a teacher who is very familiar in teaching English speaking and writing I very much appreciate this lesson. My speaking classes involves a lot of games, pair work and group work activity. I find students love to get involve in speaking when they don't feel any pressure at all ad when they think it's really fun. So activities such as dividing students into teams and competing works very well. For writing I don't really agree that giving it as homework is not a good idea because it gives students the time to think and experiment with vocabulary and research, then they sharing it with the class makes it even better for learning.
