Then sentence stress with examples to show how the meaning of the same sentence changes with change in word stress is explained. Word stress with few rules is given. The phonemes of English, vowels and consonants are listed for reference. The labeled organs of speech is very useful too. The place and manner of articulation of the consonants with examples and the table of consonants is very useful as reference material for teachers of pronunciation. The unit also discusses the different techniques that can be used to teach intonation and stress. It also stresses the fact that teaching phonology is the right way to teach pronunciation to foreign learners of English.
