This unit covered how teachers can learn what levels their students are at and what their students need. In general, the lesson focused on how best to provide the information students need for their courses. Conducting a variety of tests (needs analysis, diagnostic, placement, etc) is essential to figuring out how effective the course is. If you do not know what the student needs, then your course is bound to be ineffective for them. So if you do not conduct a progress test, then you will not know what has been effectively learned. Tests can yield important data and can also be required for an end of the course evaluation or for the employer. I favor evaluation tests and this lesson showed me new kinds of tests and just how important evaluations are.
