At the beginning or at various phases of studies students are given tests to check their knowledge. Placement test is given in order to place the student to the correct class. Progress tests are submitted with the purpose of checking what parts of language are learnt, what language items need further development or explanation. Diagnostic tests are given in order to see what find out what they know and can aid the teacher to prepare the lesson based on it to strenghen their weak points. Parctice tests are external exam parts and are given to practice and get ready for exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC. Cambridge assessment tests include KET, FCE, CPE, CAE, and PET.
