The two videos in Unit 10 helped to demonstrate and reinforce concepts in the previous units, including the roles of teachers and students, ESA lesson organization, and managing classes. I thought the first video was painful to watch, as the teacher was disengaged and annoyed and the students were confused and silent. In stark contrast, I actually wanted to be in the classroom in the second video. The instructor was friendly and energetic and the students were participating. There were many important points illustrated between the two videos but my main takeaway was just how important it is for the teacher to set the tone for the class. There are many things out of the control of the teacher, but to have a bad attitude all but guarantees a poor classroom experience for everyone.
