There are two types of groups when beginning a new lesson: A new group that is made up of students who don't know each other and an existing group who already know each other. In both instances, a teacher must begin by building rapport. A teacher can begin with fun ice breaking activities that allow the students to get to know each other and the new teacher. Some games will get students involved are hangman, tongue twisters and Pictionary. These are great warmers to teach students new vocabulary and grammar structures. Large classes can be problematic when trying to involve all of the students. However, there are some effective ways to ensure that all students are participating in the lesson. Pair work, and group are great ways to motivate students to work together and share a wide variety of ideas.
