In this unit,the future tense system is detailed as well as compared to both some present and past tenses in form, function, and usage. The future simple, future perfect, the future continous and the future perfect continuous have been expanded upon, while bringing to light some of the typical problems, and subsequent confusion encountered by students between certain future and present tense forms and related usage. Teaching ideas using the engage and activates stages of the ESA model have also been shared in this unit, pointing out that various question based activities in the engage stage would both encourage and elicit the correct answers from the students.
From this unit, I have learned about the similarities and difference between the present, past and future tenses, and the confusion that arises from their similarities for both teachers as well as students. I have also learned that memorization is a large part of learning the rules and usages of each tense.
