The unit introduces the concepts of receptive (reading and listening) skills and productive (listening and speaking) skills and then focuses on the former. The reading and listening skills are actually concepts that don't necessarily come naturally to native speakers either. They are skills taught to children in elementary school on up. Skills such as predicting, skimming, scanning, deducing, and focusing on detailed information are important to educated, time-managed fluency in a language. There are other skills not mentioned here such as summarizing, but perhaps this is categorized elsewhere. This test was another helpful example of a lesson too.
