A teachers attitude does affect the outcome of the lesson. In the first video, the teacher came across as uninterested and rude. He did not know the students by name and made no attempt to. He intimidated the students by insisting that the material was easy. It was difficult to hear ( and understand) exactly what he was saying and his lesson was very boring and one dimensional- as a result the students appeared confused and somewhat bored. The second lesson from the very beginning had a different atmosphere in which the teacher came across as friendly and interested. He took the time to learn students by name. His use of the ESA method was evident. He made instructions more clear with gestures, mimes and examples. Therefore, the students were engaged and interested; class participation was high.
