This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The contrast of the two videos in this unit was very useful because we are able to see the difference that it makes when a teacher has the right attitude and uses more effective learning/ teaching techniques. The first class seem confused and uninspired, and the teacher did not look like he was passionate about what he was teaching. In the second video, the teacher was able to keep all the students engaged, without putting anyone on the spot. The teacher used miming and gestures in a humorous way to elicit the responses he needed form the students. In the second video, the teacher introduced himself and asked the students for their names. This is important to create a rapport with the students. Using the students names during the lesson also maintained the rapport. The students felt quickly at ease from the beginning of the lesson, which facilitated a good learning outcome.
