This lesson was understanding the timing, the relevance, the frequency, the position, whether positive or negative, of actions being communicated. Verbs are probably the most important part of a sentence because they convey the action. Understanding tenses prepares you to better communicate how the action occurred, when it occurred, whether it is a simple action, a repetitive action, a continuous action, or an action that actually did not occur. Although I feel like I have always known this, I had not really thought of it as a native English speaker. Beginning to think about it prepares me to understand how to teach this concept to non-native speakers.
